Job Title: Technical Animator
Location: Remote, work from home in the US or UK only
Position Type: Full-time (40 hours)

What’s the Job?

Uplift Games is the studio behind Adopt Me, the #1 game on the Roblox platform (31+ billion visits, 1.92 million record CCU) all about adopting cute pets. We are a small team with a huge community, so to push the limits of scale and quality, we are expanding our studio.

We’re looking for a talented Technical Animator to join our Creative Team. You will show strong skills with creating 3D/2D animations, rigging and in-game animation implementation, and asset setup, combined with a strong background of game development. You must have a can-do attitude and be eager to learn new methods and techniques to achieve the results required for your assigned project. You’ll be expected to work closely with other team members and departments, ensuring ideas are professionally presented and realized in-game to contribute to fulfilling our mission of “Creating Future Nostalgia” for our millions of players.

It is essential that you value diversity and want to work alongside talented people from marginalized groups. We are explicitly a trans, LGBTQIA+, BIPOC / BAME, and disability-positive team, and you will be an active supporter of all team members.

This is a remote position open to candidates who are based in the US or UK and can demonstrate eligibility to work in those countries.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Work with the Social, Art and Animation managers to get fully behind the artistic vision of the project.
  • Follow animation pipelines, workflows, and performance budgets to achieve the projects desired visuals with minimal feedback.
  • Assist with the creation of skeletal assets and implementation in engine.
  • Create and/or modify in-game 2D/3D animations within a given timeframe for rendering or exporting them into the game pipeline.
  • Verify the quality of animations in engine and make improvements where necessary to fit technical constraints and artistic direction.
  • Solve problems within your area of expertise on your assigned projects.
  • Understand the Roblox pipeline and adjust to the ever-changing landscape of the game engine and its pipeline
  • Actively participate to help make improvements to work methods and pipelines.

Your Background

These are the things candidates really should have but can make up for in other areas. If you’re missing one or two, consider applying anyway, especially if you belong to a marginalized group.

  • Strong knowledge of the video game development process and production pipelines
  • Able to work effectively with different animation styles.
  • Strong knowledge of rigging in 3D/2D.
  • Have a good background of issue debugging and general problem solving.
  • Skills in animation software packages such as Maya, 3Ds Max or Blender.
  • Experience working with custom game engines, with an understanding of platform limitations, memory, and performance.
  • A strong understanding of animation fundamentals.
  • A passion for video games, art, and commitment to personal development.
  • Creative thinker with strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Good communication skills and a teamwork-oriented attitude.
  • Positive and can-do mindset and be able to adapt based on feedback.
  • Good organization and time management skills.

Request Supplementary Documents

  • A copy of your CV / Resume
  • A brief overview (cover letter) of why you want to work at Uplift Games
  • Optional Portfolio: Links to your past work to demonstrate your technical and creative skills.
