Job Title: IT Manager
Location: US - California (Bay Area)
Estimated Salary: 90,000 - 130,000 USD per year, paid monthly

What’s the Job?

Our IT Manager will be responsible for internal systems, information and technology across our global remote-first Studio. You will play a key role in ensuring that our team members are fully supported by our IT infrastructure no matter where they live, including in the UK where 40% of our team members are based. In the future we may open an office in San Mateo near the Roblox Corporation’s headquarters, so it is important that you would be happy to commute to this location to help to set up and store IT equipment there.

As the sole member of the IT team, your role will encompass everything from helpdesk-style employee support to strategic projects and it’s important that you enjoy and are comfortable with this broad range of responsibilities.

We are a diverse team and we strongly encourage applications from people in marginalized groups. This is a remote position open to candidates who are based in the US or UK and can demonstrate eligibility to work in those countries.

What is expected of me?

  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve and update software and systems
  • Develop and implement IT policy and best practice guides for the studio
  • Manage our network and ensure data security
  • Oversee and determine timeframes for major IT projects including system updates, upgrades, migrations and outages
  • Procure, distribute and maintain all hardware and software, including supporting in negotiation and administration of vendor agreements
  • Provide full IT support to all employees, both remotely and in-person
  • Administrate our internal apps and tools including but not limited to Slack, Google Workspace, Asana, Discord, specialised art software, etc.
  • Ensuring smooth onboarding and offboarding staff from an IT perspective
  • In the event that we open a San Mateo office, ensure the office is fully networked and IT-ready for opening day
  • Create and manage the IT budget
  • Support with IT projects and strategic initiatives

What traits should I have?

We divide applicant traits into 2 categories: "Should Have" and "Nice to Have".

"Should Have" traits are things a candidate really should have, but you can make up for it in other areas. If you’re missing one or two, consider applying anyway, especially if you belong to a marginalized group.

"Nice to Have" traits are ‘bonus’ traits that can improve your candidacy, but none of these are necessary to apply.

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience
