Job Title: Head of Production
Location: Remote, work from home in the US or UK only
Position Type: Full-time (40 hours)

What’s the Job?

We’re looking for an experienced Head of Production to lead our production and product teams. As a seasoned production lead and member of our senior management team, you will steer our production strategy, along with line-manage and mentor your team. Our studio is a place where diverse and talented people are empowered to bring joy to the lives of millions of players, and as a manager, you will play a key role in supporting and inspiring the team. As a mentor and an empathetic manager, you will use your own experience to guide your team and support each member’s growth and development both professionally and personally. An open and effective communicator, you will coordinate with other managers and leadership to avoid excessive peaks and troughs, and to ensure that our people are able to do their best ever work while living happy, healthy lives.

It is essential that you value diversity and want to work alongside talented people from marginalized groups. We are explicitly a trans, LGBTQIA+, BIPOC / BAME, and disability-positive team, and you will be an active supporter of all team members.

This is a remote position open to candidates who are based in the US or UK and can demonstrate eligibility to work in those countries.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Steer our production vision, strategy, and roadmap. Work with Producers to keep projects on track.
  • Line-manage your production and product direct reports. Working with other managers, plan the team’s workload to avoid crunch and ensure team members can enjoy a good work-life balance
  • Mentor your direct reports, ensuring everyone is growing. Share your expansive production knowledge with your Producers.
  • Get hands on, personally filling gaps in production and solving day-to-day problems while we formalize our production structure and fill vacancies.
  • Identify and recruit talented Producers while retaining existing team members.
  • Champion production best practices in our interdisciplinary agile product teams.
  • Build strong relationships with other department leads. Ensure inter-departmental communication is collaborative and effective.
  • Create an environment where feedback and constructive criticism is welcomed and regularly shared between team members in order to improve yourself and others.
  • Foster a sense of team unity and ensure our workplace is welcoming to all, regardless of background

Your Background

These are the things candidates really should have but can make up for in other areas. If you’re missing one or two, consider applying anyway, especially if you belong to a marginalized group.

  • Extensive experience in production, including expertise in a wide range of production tools, processes, and methodologies. You are aware of past, present, and emerging trends in production with an academic-like curiosity for production theory.
  • You’re excited at the prospect of leading and shaping a team and being part of the leadership of our studio at this exciting stage of our evolution
  • Experience managing a team.
  • Experience with live service, multiplayer, multiplatform games.
  • Excellent communication for both internal and external audiences. You are not only a great presenter but also an empathetic listener.
  • You are self-directed and able to manage both your own workload and that of your team in a remote environment.
  • Experience working with an international and/or remote team. We work across many time zones, using Slack and voice calls to communicate.
  • You love games. You have good intuition for what players want because you’re a passionate player yourself.

Bonus Points

These are things that can improve your candidacy, but none of these are necessary to apply.

  • Experience in a young studio that rapidly scaled up
  • Experience in AAA studios/publishers
  • Experience with Roblox tools and community
  • Direct academic or professional experience as any of these roles: Product Manager, Game Designer, Data Scientist, QA Tester, or other product team discipline. Because our leadership and Producer teams are small, you will line-manage not only Producers but also a limited number of others from our product teams while the studio scales up.
  • Some understanding of employment best practices in the US and UK

What’s the Compensation?

When possible, we provide transparent estimated salary ranges to set expectations early and to respect your time.

We recognize, however, that salaries vary within our various remote geographical locations. To give an indication of the salary level for this role, we estimate the annual salary to be a range of:

  • $120,000 - $150,000 USD

Our compensation package is intended to be competitive with your local market and is negotiable.

We have a competitive benefits package. Find out more on our Why Work Here page.
