Job Title: 2D Artist
Location: Remote, work from home in the US or UK only
Position Type: Full-time (40 hours)

What’s the Job?

Uplift Games is the studio behind Adopt Me, the premiere pet adoption game on Roblox (33B+ sessions, 1.92 million record CCU). As we continue to grow our game studio and develop the best games, we are expanding our art team to push the limits of Roblox even further.

We’re looking for a talented 2D Artist to help with UI/UX work as well as illustration and concept work. As we are a small but growing team, this is a great role for a generalist who enjoys all areas of creating 2D assets. You’ll work alongside talented artists, programmers and more to help Adopt Me and future projects look and feel amazing across all platforms. Your work will help inform and evolve our house style for many years to come.

It is essential that you value diversity and want to work alongside talented people from marginalized groups. We are explicitly a trans, LGBTQIA+, BIPOC / BAME, and disability-positive team, and you will be an active supporter of all team members.

This is a remote position open to candidates who are based in the US or UK and can demonstrate eligibility to work in those countries.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Create excellent illustrations, UI art, concepts and other 2D assets for Adopt Me and other products. Where necessary, make sure your work fits our younger audience and works well within the limitations of Roblox and mobile platforms
  • Embrace, maintain and evolve the visual language of Adopt Me and our studio’s output as a whole.
  • Collaborate within cross-disciplinary teams to inform design and implementation of projects. Give and receive criticism within the Art team, improving yourself and others.

Your Background

These are the things candidates really should have but can make up for in other areas. If you’re missing one or two, consider applying anyway, especially if you belong to a marginalized group.

  • You are able to create high-quality illustrations and UI assets in the Adopt Me style for cross-platform games, and have a portfolio that showcases this.
  • A great understanding of good UI/UX, particularly for game products on mobile.
  • You’re excited at the prospect of evolving an established art style, helping set the tone and style of our studio for years to come.
  • Experience working within cross-disciplinary teams on game projects.
  • Experience with the Adobe suite (or equivalent software) - particularly Illustrator, Photoshop.
  • You are self-directed and able to manage your own time effectively in a remote work environment without micro-management.
  • Excellent communication skills, you are an empathetic person able to support and raise up your coworkers. There is no place for selfish, bad communicators here.

Bonus Points

These are things that can improve your candidacy, but none of these are necessary to apply.

  • Experience working with an international and/or remote team. We work across many time zones, using Slack and voice chat to communicate.
  • Experience with concepting, vis dev for games or game-like products.
  • Experience with Roblox Studio.
  • Experience with UI frameworks in games (Unity, Unreal, others).
  • Experience with creating motion graphics (e.g After Effects or equivalent).
  • Experience with print materials and 2D work for physical use cases.
  • Experience with rendering, creating renders.

Request Supplementary Documents

  • A copy of your CV / Resume
  • Cover letter A brief overview of why you want to work at Uplift Games
  • Portfolio: Links to your past work to demonstrate your creative and technical skills
